This spring we were feeling the need for a little day hike, so we ventured out to Sleepy Hollow State Park. This state park is pretty close to where we live, and we’d visited the campground before, but never ventured into the park or the trails too much. We had a nice time visiting this one, despite the cool day.

Sleepy Hollow State Park, located in Clinton County 20 minutes north of Lansing, contains more than 2,600 acres and is situated on Price Road off from US-27 near St. Johns and Laingsburg. A river winds its way through the woods and fields of the park and Lake Ovid is nestled in the middle of it all.

There are quite a few trails here, although it was a little hard to find some of the trailheads. We parked by the lake, checked out the signs there, and then made our way to a trailhead near the campsites not far from the beach. The trails were still quite brown, not a lot blooming, but I actually found the brown color palette quite beautiful.

The park is open year round, and offers lots of trails and opportunities for fishing, hiking, kayaking and more. We definitely want to come back here in the summer, and explore some more!
