This fall we stopped in for a little hike around W.M Mitchell State Park. Nolan had a hockey tournament in Cadillac, and when I realized this great campground and park was there, we knew we had to take a walk through.

Mitchell State Park is larger than it seems from first glance. It covers about 330 acres, and sits between two lakes- Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac.

The playground was great, and a nice distraction from the hockey rinks, and hotel room we’d been occupying this weekend. The toys were fun, and the view was so pretty, right on the water, with the changing colors of the trees.

We had fun walking out on the fishing dock, and searching for a geocache. There was a camper with a fire going, and football playing on someone’s tv. It looked real cozy and wanted to just stay in this park all weekend. The sites are nice, and I can see why it’s a popular spot in the summer.

If you’re heading north in Michigan, or just looking for a great new spot to camp, fish, or hike, definitely make a stop at Mitchell State Park!
