Silver Lake is best known for the Sand Dunes. Anyone who has come here knows what this little town is about. We’ve been long time fans of this area, as we have many family members that live in or near the dunes. It does not get much better than Silver Lake in the summer for little boys. Big trucks, camping, and sand castle building.
This campground is for families. If you come here expecting any peace and quiet you will be sadly disappointed. Know this going in. This campground is full of kids, there’s an arcade, large pool, kids pool, pavilion, gift shop, movies at night, and many many planned activities including wagon rides and daily visits with Yogi himself. We didn’t even visit here this year and my boys still tell everyone they love going to Yogi.
Lots of sites at this campground including rustic water/electric, and full hook-up with slabs. We have found summer is the best time to visit for beach going and dune climbing, but fall can be a great time as well. We stayed a week last fall and there were not many people in the campground during the week, but it filled up on the weekends. There is a themed weekend in the fall with campsite trick or treating and pumpkin decorating. There are also themed weekends all summer long.
Silver Lake itself is filled with so many fun things to do and wonderful Lake Michigan beaches. Kids will LOVE it and we highly reccomend! If you’ve never been on the dunes, make sure you make friends with someone with a truck or visit Mac Woods!
