Mackinaw City is easily one of the most popular travel destinations in Michigan. There is a lot to see and do. The area is VERY busy in the summertime, so keep this in mind if visiting. We like to enjoy Mackinaw in the off season when it’s a bit less crowded and the temperatures cool down.

A couple of years ago we stumbled upon Mackinaw Mill Creek and fell in love. I feel there is an art to picking a site at this campground so I’ll do my best to explain it here. Think of the campground as split into two sections. The side you stay on depends on the type of camping you enjoy doing. One side of the campground faces the Mackinaw Bridge. These Bridge view sites are I believe the following- LARGE RV and SMALL Sewer, water, electric (30 amp) 50ft x 25ft sites. They are however, on slabs, and all campers are slid into rows side by side. The sites are VERY tight. In fact, all fire pits are across the small road on the grass in front of the bridge. This is a nice view of the bridge while sitting at your fire, however, I prefer not to be so close to my neighbors. At this campground, we skip the full hook-up and go for the water/electric sites on the other side of the campground.

The non-bridge view sites are more wooded, and provide much more room. There are many sites, and some sit on the water with a decent view of the grand hotel and Mackinaw island in the distance.

There is a nice store on this side of the campground with a gated pool area. The store has fresh pizza, soda, beer, wine, toys, gifts, etc. It is a really nice camp store. There is also an arcade inside and a couple of playgrounds within the campground.

This campground also provides a few different types of cabins, from rustic, to cabins with full bathrooms inside. Online reservations are available, or for a more detailed description of sites, call the campground to book. They are very good here at explaining while helping you book.

Overall, we return to this campground again and again because we really love the area, and the campground is very friendly, clean, and great for families.
