Ludington State Park is a great campground. The sites are on the smaller side, but not abnormal for a State Park. It is a very large campground split into three campgrounds- Pines, Cedar, and Beachwood. You really can’t go wrong with chosing a site here. I do, however, like to chose a site in the Pines campground. This is closest to a trail that leads to Big Sable lighthouse. We love this hike. It is a 1.5 mile hike each way, on a mostly paved trail. There can be sandy parts, but most of it is rideable on bike.
I really like that this campground has a lot of trees. It sets back away from any type of traffic and is very quiet. We saw a deer a few feet from the bath house once. There is just so much to do here. Hiking, fishing, paddling, Boat rental, biking, and winter activities.
I highly reccomend a trip to this campground!
