Hello friends! Happy November!

What a whirlwind kind of season it was for us.  November always feels like a real reflective time for me. We had a very busy wedding season over at Mitten Films, so we didn’t get as much camping time in as we would have loved. As we winterize and put away the camper, I start to think about the next season and where it will take us. I start making mental notes of campgrounds we have had on our “list” for sometime and ones that we HAVE to see next year.

I was reflecting on the couple of camping trips we did take, and I realized we never blogged this fun little trip to Oscoda/Tawas KOA we took back in May! We had a fun little weekend with the family and Garrin and Liz Ball and their pups. Liz runs the blog- The Mitten Adventure and has all kinds of fun reviews of little Michigan towns.

We tend to gravitate towards the Lake Michigan side of the state, so I really like getting over to the East side of the state and exploring towns and places I don’t really know a lot about! The Tawas Bay Area has some really great gems! We visited a little outdoor craft show, peaked inside some great looking taverns, and even visited a new lighthouse! Definitely explore this area if you get a chance to check out somewhere new that you’ve never been.

The campground had all kinds of bikes to rent by the hour or by the day. While we did bring our own bikes, they thought these ones were pretty fun.

We had some rain here and there but overall the weather was great and the boys loved jumping in their pool.

We went exploring and found Tawas Point Lighthouse. This is a great light, with a fun gift shop. Nolan found a book about shipwrecks that he could not put down. Ethan was hunting for fossils and treasures.

Downtown Tawas is so pretty. We found a fun little arts and crafts show. The boys met an author- Mick McArt and got a signed copy of his book Moonhouse!

We had a really great time here in Tawas! Add this campground and area to your list for the next adventure!
